Tag & Release Research

We're committed to tagging & releasing striped marlin, to uncover their migration patterns and other challenges they encounter. With a thirst for knowledge, we aim to expand our understanding of these remarkable creatures and their interactions with the oceanic environment. We are dedicated to helping researchers learn as much as possible about these amazing animals.

Providing A Platform For Scientists & Research

Through collaboration with experts in the scientific community, we aim to contribute valuable insights to inform conservation efforts and enhance our understanding of marine ecosystems. This partnership allows us to work together, combining our resources and knowledge to drive impactful changes in protecting and preserving our oceans for future generations.

Access For Anglers

We support all of the restrictions that the State has in place, but we don’t believe that all of California should become an MPA. However, we recognize the importance of balanced and sustainable conservation efforts that consider the needs of both the environment and local communities. Anglers love fish and want to improve the fish populations and can work with researches to better know the true populations of the different species.

Mylar Balloon Ban

Mylar balloons are incredibly hazardous to the environment and all too often end up in our oceans where their chemicals and compounds leech into the food chain. We are leading the charge to ban these balloons and encourage everyone to stop buying them. No more Mylar BALLOONS!

Educating

Teaching the next generation to understand better, & respect our oceans. We aspire to create a ripple effect, inspiring individuals to become more conscious of their actions and make environmentally sound decisions. Without education we are bound to continue makeing the same mistakes.

Sustainable Fishing

Overfishing is one of the biggest threats to the world's ocean ecosystems. Overfishing occurs when fish are caught at a rate faster than they can reproduce, leading to a decline in the fish populations and the destruction of habitats. Commercial fishing needs to be sourced sustainably.

Ocean conservation through Research, Sustainability, Education, and Access for All

As lifelong fishermen and seafarers, I have directly benefited from all the Ocean has to offer. I started this organization so that we could give back to the ecosystem that has given us so much. We are driven by the desire to achieve a more harmonious relationship with our oceans through research, education, and access. We have seen a drastic decline in the health of our oceans and its diverse species, due to the sharp rise of ocean plastics, habitat destruction, and overfishing caused by large-scale commercial practices. Our own well-being and livelihoods are closely linked to that of the oceans, making it evident that we must take action to make necessary changes.

WHY We FOCUS ON Marlin?

You are what you throw graphic-black.png

The reason we are focused on the study and preservation of key marlin & other pelagic species is not only because they make up a huge portion of the oceanic wildlife population, but they also represent the vast majority of the fish we consume.

This has led to overfishing of these species, using arcane & destructive fishing methods like, Drift gill nets, Long lines, and trawls, that kill indiscriminately and contribute to by-catch.

In addition to these unsustainable fishing practices, the amount of plastics and pollution that have been breaking down in our oceans has led to an enormous spike in microplastic levels being found in almost every species. We currently have very little data on the negative effects these microplastics are having on these animals, and in turn, on us.

Fish are a great, and healthy food source but in order to maintain our relationship with the ocean, we need to protect the species that we rely on. That is why we are engaged in studying the effects of microplastics in the food chain, as well as monitoring migratory patterns and populations of these species.

Healthy Oceans = Healthy Fish = Healthy People.

Descending Devices Shine Under Pressure

Under pressure. Normally, those two words would be used when talking about work stress or looming deadlines, but for fish living in deeper waters, it's just a way of life.

Why are the Orcas in San Diego?

Orcas, the largest member of the dolphin family, have been making waves around San Diego and in Southern California.
