The R/v Pilar comes equipped with 5 simrad multifunctional displays. each display is integrated with all of the ships important systems and is equipped with its own cpu. This means that even if one fails, we still have 4 more. these displays are UNBELIEVABLY easy to use and can display everything from the weather, to sonar, engine data and much more.

while most TRADITIONAL fish finders are “up and Down” machines, we opted for a little more power. generally found on commercial vessels the furuno ch-500 is integrated directly into the ship giving us an impressive distance of active sonar in all directions. this is important for us to more easily find and track the species we are looking for more accurately.

The R/V holds two hobie kayaks on its roof that can be easily dispatched and stored with the roof mounted crane. These kayaks allow us to get much closer to certain species of marine life than we would ever get with a large boat and loud engines.
